Should I buy a Samsung or Panasonic plasma?

Jun 15, 2009

Question on Home Entertainment:

Can you tell me which plasma TV is good? I'm considering either a Samsung (B550) or Panasonic 50-inch TV.

If you're looking at entry-level 50-inch plasma TVs with full-HD resolution for the brands Samsung and Panasonic, you should compare the PS50B550T2M you mentioned with the Viera TH-P50S10. Click on the links I have provided with the model numbers to compare their specifications.

If you want a plasma TV with the best picture quality and are willing to pay a premium, the Pioneer KRP-500A is the one to go for. Note that Pioneer will be exiting the TV market by next year, though the company will still be offering after-sales service for its display products.

We cannot comment on their actual capabilities since we've not reviewed the Samsung and Panasonic panels yet. That said, we believe Panasonic should have an edge in this area.
