Why do I keep getting BSODs?

Apr 13, 2009

Question on PC & Peripherals:

When I start up my system, before Windows fully boots up, it automatically jumps to a blue screen and shows a message saying something about "memory dumping".

Is there any problem with my computer's memory?

Sounds like you have a corrupt driver or system file. A possible solution is to enter Safe mode and try using the Windows System Restore feature to return the machine to a previous state.

To enter Safe mode, press F8 when the system is booting up and select the correct option. When the machine is booted into Windows, click on Start-->All Programs-->Accessories-->System Tools-->System Restore. Then choose a time when the PC was functioning properly. If this does not work, you might have to reformat the system.

If you have taken the drastic step of reformatting the system and still get the same problem, there may be a hardware issue. It may then be necessary to get professional help or to bring your computer back to the manufacturer.
