Does the Zune Marketplace work outside the US? For example, here in Asia, can I still purchase songs from the Marketplace since I'm not in the US?

Answer:

The short answer to your question is no, the Zune Marketplace isn't available outside of the US and Canada. However, there are workarounds if you do a quick search on the Web. The Zune Marketplace is similar to Apple's iTunes. For example, while the iTunes Store isn't available in Singapore, I could still purchase a stored value card from Australia and use it to buy music from the online store.

This applies for Zune Marketplace, too, where you can buy point cards and redeem them online. If you try to link your Zune account with a non-US credit card, you'll get an error message that says the credit card information is invalid. In this case, you'll need to use a credit card with a US billing address for repeat billings.

The Zune marketplace is available in the US only. The Zune devices are available in Canada, but Canadians can't access the Zune marketplace.

I use the Zune marketplace in Asia. My account was set up in the United States, but since I've moved here, I've downloaded music countless times from the marketplace. To add more points to my account, I go to my local video game retailer and purchase an Xbox Live 1600 Points card. They use the same points for Xbox Live and the Zune marketplace, so you can just use the code from that to add more. A hassle, but better than nothing.

If you can set up the account in Asia, then get an Xbox Live points card, I don't see a problem downloading from the marketplace.

Do note though, that you can only download music. They have different copy right laws for videos, so no downloading ATHF or South Park off the Zune Marketplace.

Does anyone know where I can buy the Zune cable in Singapore? I moved apartments, and misplaced mine, so now my Zune is completely worthless.
