Tiny MP3 players with built-in USB port

Apr 30, 2008

Question on Music & Play:

I intend to buy a MP3 player that has a built-in USB port with direct USB charging, FM radio, onboard display, small in size and with 2GB capacities and above. Which is better? The Sony NW-E005, Creative MuVo T200 or the Samsung YP-U3?

The three models you have listed meet all your criteria, but I would like to add three points which could help you reach a decision. Unlike the Samsung YP-U3 and the Creative MuVo T200 which support a drag-and-drop interface, the Sony NW-E005 uses SonicStage. This is part of Sony's digital rights management suite and only songs transferred via the software are playable on the NW-E005.

On the hardware side of things, the YP-U3 uses touch-sensitive controls, so it may get a little tricky to skip tracks or adjust volume, for example, when you are jogging.

Finally, the price. The last we checked, the YP-U3 and the T200 cost about the same, below the S$100 price point. We are not too sure about the E005, though, so you may want to check it out in the stores.
