Can I expand the number of PCI slots in my desktop?

Apr 26, 2008

Question on PC & Peripherals:

I bought a HP Compaq Business Desktop dc7100 two years ago. There are two PCI slots available inside. Now I need to add one more PCI peripheral in the desktop PC. Can you tell me where I can buy an expansion slot for that?

Unfortunately, unlike USB ports, you cannot increase the number of PCI slots on your desktop's motherboard by simply installing an extra slot. It looks like you will have to purchase and install another motherboard with enough free PCI slots if you need the additional PCI slot for your peripheral card.
