While Creative is making a big push in the tablet market with its HanZpad products, the company is also quietly preparing a comeback for its computer audio business. Its CEO and chairman Sim Wong Hoo has disclosed that a new Sound Blaster product is being developed, which is unlike any of its past offerings including its famed PC sound cards. What's more, this solution is said to be geared toward both casual users as well as hardcore gamers.
For the uninitiated, the Sound Blaster brand was first introduced in 1989 for Creative's sound cards, which have been through several enhancements over the years. According to Sim, the Sound Blaster cards would not have been conceived if not for his other invention, the Cubic NT computer. This enabled Creative to apply the audio technology from the multimedia machine into making its first PC sound card.
While Sim was unwilling to share other information about the new Sound Blaster device, we were told that it will be launched sometime this year.
