We first saw the Zen MX launched in Japan in early May. Now the flash-based media player is heading for Singapore, together with another member of the Zen family, the Mozaic EZ300.

The Zen MX aims to be a more affordable version of the Zen by offering fewer features. The Mozaic EZ300 sports similar functions as the previous Mozaic, but is priced lower than its older sibling by offering a smaller range of capacities comprising 4GB and 8GB, and only comes in black.

The Zen Mosaic EZ300 comes equipped with a 1.8-inch, 128 x 160-pixel display, supports playback of MP3, WMA, WAV, Audible 4 audio formats, JPEG photos, and Creative's own CMV video format. The player also features a built-in speaker, integrated FM radio, voice recorder and alarm clock.

The Zen MX comes in 8GB and 16GB capacities, and is priced at S$189 (US$151.86) and S$249 (US$200.06), respectively. The Zen Moziac EZ300 will retail for S$109 (US$87.58) for the 4GB model and S$139 (US$111.68) for the 8GB model. Both models will be available in Singapore at Creative's online store and outlets before end June. We are awaiting word on the players' Asia availability.

@jemgx: Nope, Creative wads born in Singapore, although it has R&D departments in the US. I agree that the ZEN is pretty easy to use! @estelaider: exactly my point, how professional is a journalist or "intern" if no effort is made to get the branding of a product right. Seems like intern can't even copy and paste correctly from press release anymore!

Yes, the research and HQ is base in the USA. Creative was actually born there you know. Creative had their ZEN design this way is to target different age group, example my daughter loves the one in pink when she ask me to buy one for her after seeing her classmate had one too. Coming to my understanding I personally think is the easiest MP3 player, much more easier then my iPod. draging of files and sharing the file. I see no reason for a hold back.

Erm, isn't the ZEN in the Creative ZEN supposed to be all in caps? Haha ... is it Creative's fault that the branding is not consistant or is it Cnet's fault? I like Creative leh, cheap and good :)

Hey ferdiei, I think you may have been mistaken. Creative doesn't have a plant or factory in Singapore for manufacturing players. While it is technically a Singapore-based company, the products are made from overseas factories. And I don't think it's a matter of rethinking prices to stir interests. Compared to other key brands like Apple and Samsung, Creative is already quite competitive on the pricing front. What the company needs to do now is to focus on making its products more compelling and building an ecosystem of accessories and services around it like Apple.

"Now the flash-based media player is heading for Singapore.."thats misleading dude, to direct product/s made-in-singapore & besides CREATIVE should rethink their pricing to stir interest (again) from locals & transients..a tasteless writeup for a local company
