Okay, we didn't mean to make fun of the Joby's Gorillapod, but we can't resist associating this portable tripod for compact cameras with the all-almighty ape. If that isn't enough, the company has also released an SLR version of the Gorillapod.
Unlike King Kong which uses its four limbs to traverse Skull Island, the Gorillapods have only three "legs" to contend with. Each of these "legs" has flexible joints with rubber grips, so the tripod can be wrapped around anything. Well, almost.
Similar to its younger sibling, the Gorillapod SLR weighs 165g, measures 250 x 50 x 50mm and is able to support an SLR or video camera of up to 1.1kg. The camera is connected to the pod via a universal 1/4-20 screw mount. There's also a lock ring to make sure your camera stays on the tripod--that is if your three-legged machine isn't the one falling off the roof in the first place.
While we won't see King Kong scaling our skyscrapers anytime soon, the Gorillapods look fun enough to play with, which could be potentially useful for demanding shooting conditions.

Anything that tiny isn't going to be good news, ergonomically speaking, for your carpel tunnel. But this has to be one of the coolest portable optical mice we've come across. As the name indicates, this metallic rodent is finger-width broad. Which also means relearning its use since the top part now acts as a left mouse button, the bottom functions as the right mouse button, and the scroll wheel sits awkwardly (particularly for lefties) on the right side. Go finger, er, figure.
It's all out war against the mossies with the Mosquito Magnet Defender designed for the homeowner held prisoner by a garden full of bloodsuckers. This device claims to mimic the human respiration by converting liquid petroleum gas to CO2 with a patented short-range attractant called Lurex. Think of it as pheromones for the Asian tiger mosquito, the much-feared Aedes Albopictus known to spread dengue and dengue hemorrhagic fever. This silent assassin ain't cheap by half, but for peace of mind, it could well be priceless. Augment with the fun-filled Flygun.
