Google, citing free-speech concerns, on Monday said it will comply with the
Korean law--but by prohibiting uploads and comments rather than by requiring
people to verify their identities. And it told people they could work around the
constraint by visiting another country's version of the video-sharing site.
Now the backlash is beginning to set in, according to one Korean
media report.
"Korea Communications Commission network policy official Hwang Cheol-jeung
says that the commission will be examining whether or not Google has engaged in
illegal activities in any of the various services it operates in South Korea,"
the Hankyoreh reported Friday, saying that could include many more Google
activities than just YouTube.

Google's Gmail Labs has just rolled out a useful, but mildly creepy feature that gives you suggestions on who you should email based on previous conversations. So, if you've had threads going with a group of people, it will recommend some of those folks once you've added at least two addresses in the recipients field. Best part is, they don't even have to be in a group of contacts you've created in Gmail's contacts manager.

I reviewed Apple's LED Cinema Display late last year and found it a great performer. But it was only compatible with a small subsection of the market--thanks to Apple's use of Mini DisplayPort as its sole video connection. Due to this decision, the display was disappointingly only compatible with the new MacBooks.
