Another Apple tablet rumor

Apple will have a tablet computer available in time for the holidays, but has not yet decided on a sales model.

According to a published rumor by Scott Moritz of The Street, the device, a larger version of the iPod touch, “will have a 9 or 10-in. screen and may have a keyboard."

The device will be subsidized by Verizon, Moritz writes, "but Apple and Verizon won’t be as tightly integrated as Apple’s iPhone exclusivity deal with AT&T.

Asus Eee PC T91 to be available in selected Asia-Pacific markets

If you have been eyeing Asus' first convertible tablet Netbook, you might be in for a slight disappointment. We have just received confirmation from the Taiwanese company that the Eee PC T91 will be retailing only in a few Asia-Pacific markets--namely Japan, Taiwan, Thailand and Australia.

For other countries in the region, the Eee PC T91 will be available only on a project basis to institutions and businesses. But if you really must have an Atom-based convertible tablet PC but don't want to fly to these countries to get the Eee PC T91, check out another Taiwanese product, the Gigabyte M912. We will be getting both units soon, so expect full reviews in a couple of weeks.

ThinkPad T400s arrives in Asia, but with a small catch

The latest business laptop from Lenovo, the ThinkPad T400s, should need no introduction. Billed as the slimmest and lightest full-featured 14.1-inch notebook in the market, the Chinese maker claims it's even more portable than competitors such as the Dell Latitude 6400 and HP EliteBook 6930p. The T400s officially debuts in Singapore and other Asia markets today with a starting price of S$3,199 (US$2,279.30).

BenQ enters 11.6-inch Netbook space

Netbooks are slowing shifting toward the 11.6-inch form factor which, in our opinion, hits the sweet spot between portability and usability. BenQ is the latest to enter this niche with its new 11.6-inch minilaptop, the JoyBook Lite U121 Eco. Like most of its competitors, the display is HD-ready with a 1,366 x 768-pixel resolution.

Lexar releases new SSD

The market for consumer solid-state drives just got slightly more diverse.

Lexar Media announced its latest line of solid-state drives (SSDs), the Crucial M225 SSDs. Lexar has been a known flash storage device maker, while Crucial is a known brand for computer system memory, or RAM.

The M225 SSDs come in three versions, 256GB, 128GB, and 64GB, and offer throughput speeds up to 250MBps in reading and 200MBps in writing, which is almost twice the speed of most SSDs in the market.

These drives utilize a SATA 2.0 (3Gbps) interface and feature MLC NAND flash components housed in an industry-standard 2.5-inch drive enclosure. This means they are compatible with all laptops and applications where traditional 2.5 SATA hard drives are used.
