Just over two months after Dell first showed off Adamo at the Consumer Electronics Show, the company says the notebook will be available for order starting March 26.
Adamo is Latin for "to fall in love with" or "covet" and, of course, that's what Dell hopes consumers will do when they see the sleek lines and extra attention to design details it's showered on this notebook. Read more »
"We have the most rugged laptop." "No, WE have the ruggedest!" "Psshhh, ours is even ruggedier!"
No, those aren't real words, but that's kind of how the marketing and advertising goes among the niche of companies making laptops that can stand up to dust, wind, rain, vibration, and getting dropped.
The latest entrant is General Dynamics subsidiary GD-Itronix, which has rebranded its GoBook XR-1 as the GD8000. According to the company, it's the ruggederiest of them all.

Hewlett Packard on Monday said that its long-lasting Enviro laptop batteries from Boston Power are available with a three-year warranty.
The batteries costs US$149.99 and fit 18 of HP's laptops. They can be purchased online now and will be available in stories later this month.
HP has branded Boston Power's Sonata batteries under the Enviro name to emphasize the environmental attributes. With a longer-lasting battery, consumers need to upgrade less often, which reduces the number of batteries that need to be recycled, HP said in a statement.
Last year, an HP representative estimated the Enviro line costs about US$20 to US$30 more than traditional batteries.
For start-up company Boston Power, the product release is a significant milestone.

The group will provide support for phones, said Chien Lee-feng, president of Google Taiwan, in a Digitimes article. Google confirmed the phone support but denied the report's statement that Google also is offering support for the small, low-cost laptops called Netbooks.
"Android is a free, open-source mobile platform. This means that anyone can take the Android platform and add code or download it to create a mobile device without restrictions," Google said in a statement. "It was designed from the beginning to scale downward to feature phones and upward to MID (mobile Internet devices) and Netbook-style devices. We look forward to seeing what contributions are made and how an open platform spurs innovation, but we have nothing to announce at this time."
