Word is the guys at Journal Du Geek have been testing out a new MP3 player from Samsung. What we know so far is that it features a 2.6-inch screen with a 400 x 240-pixel resolution and will play all the same video formats as the YP-P3 natively: Xvid, divx, H.264 and WMV. On the audio format support: WMA, OGG, WAV, AAC and FLAC. Also, it features Beat DJ, a music mixing feature found in Samsung's Beat DJ phones.
One of the a members on anythingbutipod posted a photo of a another mysterious Samsung player called the M1, following a previous member who submitted some of the Bluetooth certification papers for that player. What we know from them is that the M1 will feature Bluetooth and come with a 3.3-inch screen, which is a tad bigger than the current P3's 3-inch screen.

We've been poring over the filings with the FCC for some evidence about Creative's new touchscreen portable media player. We even politely knocked on Creative's door, but unfortunately we weren't able to get any other information about this exciting new device.
Named after the miniature supercomputer that Creative showed us during CES 2009, the Zii (and the developer-centric Zii EGG) include music and video playback capabilities, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, and an HD camera on the back, though it is unclear if it's 720p or 1080p.

Update: We just got word from Sony that the E440 series will arrive in Asia in October.
Sony has announced a refresh of its entry-level video Walkman players with the new E440 series. Like the previous E340 series, the E440 has a circular D-pad and matching menu buttons. The overall effect suspiciously resembles a certain iconic Disney mouse's head at first glance. The new Walkman is 9.3mm thin (to the E340's 8.5mm), and comes in two colors--black and a rather outstanding two-tone red and black . Besides the improved looks, the specifications remain mostly unchanged from the E430.

While Apple still has a ways to go to be the dominant cell phone provider in
the world, CEO Steve Jobs is comfortable with his lead in selling mobile
applications.
Apple announced Tuesday that after a year in existence, its App Store has
counted 1.5 billion downloaded applications for the iPhone and
iPod touch. In a
press release, Jobs said, "The App Store is like nothing the industry has ever
seen before in both scale and quality. With 1.5 billion apps downloaded, it is
going to be very hard for others to catch up."
Indeed, the rate at which customers are buying the apps seems to be
increasing. In April, Apple announced 1 billion apps had been downloaded
from its store, after just nine months of being open. Just three months later,
another 500 million apps have been purchased. Apple says there are 65,000 apps
available in the store, and 40 million iPhones and iPod touch devices sold thus
far, with new iPhone 3GS owners likely bumping up those download numbers in the
last month.

A rash of Wi-Fi connectivity and signal strength complaints have cropped up after Apple's iPhone OS 3.0 software update. Some users complain that their iPhones and iPod touches drop from Wi-Fi unexpectedly; others that they can't connect to the Internet at all.
Some users have been able to resolve connectivity problems by resetting their network connections (via Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings), but this simple fix hasn't worked for everyone. In some cases, not even a total system restore fixes the problem.
