The Apple bug: iPod shuffle plug-and-charge

Edvarcl Heng  |  Feb 09, 2007

Can the Powerbug possibly be a play of the word "power plug"? While 12 hours may be enough for some, the time taken to charge the shuffle via USB is just too long. The Powerbug acts as the intermediary between the shuffle and a power socket. And it's a clever enough solution to warrant a second look. Read more here

For freezing head bangers: Nike iHat

Edvarcl Heng  |  Feb 09, 2007

From top to bottom, Nike seems insistent on dressing the iPod-owning sports geek/freak. The Nike Men's Soft Shell Therma-FIT Hatphones Cap (that's a mouthy, Nike) can sit an iPod nano within its cavity, keep your noggin toasty and still let you control playback from a slot on its back. Get ahead of the running pack. Available in four colors. Read more here

Listening to music at 20,000 leagues under the sea?

Edvarcl Heng  |  Feb 08, 2007

Or maybe not. According to Aquapac, its latest waterproof earphones are only tested to a depth of 10m. But if Captain Nemo was around, he would definitely have insisted on a version to suit his listening pleasures onboard the Nautilus. Comes with spare ear buds and a headphone buoy for storage. Virgin Mary: The Tomato U7

Edvarcl Heng  |  Feb 07, 2007

Forgive the pun. We can't help drawing comparisons to a certain fruit with squash-able tendencies. Tomato here refers to the company name for a Korean electronics manufacturer. And judging by its tech specs, the U7 is certainly no rotten apple. It has a 1.8-inch screen, and supports a good bundle of features such as FM radio, line-in recording, games and video playback.

But based on rumors heard from the grapevine, the U7 reportedly supports up to only 10 hours of audio playback time. Now that's a bad harvest.

iPod speakers by Sony

Edvarcl Heng  |  Feb 06, 2007

Ouch. Talk about throwing in the towel. Just like Creative, Sony is making the ultimate tribute to its arch rival by building a speaker dock to host the iPod. The new loudspeaker looks sleek and good with a built-in amplifier and a subwoofer. Unimaginatively dubbed the CPF-IP001, it has a remote control and a bespoke design that's stock in trade for Sony. It's a pity the same design chops were not used to craft an Apple-chomping MP3 player. Buy it here
