Wearable tech just took another turn. As if it ain't strange enough having your belt buckle make music, now China-based Egokast has a clunky palm-sized video version that serves no higher purpose than to promote navel-gazing--specifically yours. If you have a narcissistic streak, the Egokast is aptly named (it's all about you, baby); though those with beer bellies might want to give this a miss. A plastic shield to protect its scratch-prone display would have been nice. Otherwise, this personal media player bundles a disc chockablock with hundreds of prefabricated video loops for those who can stomach the attention this will draw.
We wonder what inspired these nuts to pull off such a stunt, but it's amazing what the little YP-K5 can withstand. Apparently, some fellows decided to test the durability of its hinge under duress--by driving a car over it. It's no small feat that Samsung's latest MP3 player survived and lived to sing the tale.
We are not sure if Neo would approve, but the iAudio F2's new Matrix interface would look right at home in Trinity's elegant leather-encased palm. There's that bit of hi-tech chic there. The nine-button layout corresponds with the three-by-three grid on the screen, which ought to cut down on all those needless button presses and keep things intuitive.
The iAudio F2 also has tons of codec support: MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG Vorbis and FLAC. But to catch video on the F2's 1.3-inch screen, one would need to re-encode their clips. It's a great improvement on the older F1 and we can't wait to have it in our Labs for a little slugging session.

It's not exactly new, but Sony tries to justify the "Plus" in VoicePlus with an MP3 player and a USB jack for easy mass storage options. It's a voice recorder first, so we would expect it to have a pretty decent microphone onboard. Sony claims that there is built-in pitch control and up to almost 18 hours of battery life on this fellow. Runs on AAA battery and available in three colors: Blue (256MB), white (512MB) and dark blue (1GB). Available in Asia Pacific in later this month.
Just because one's born with feet doesn’t automatically qualify one for kickass status. With only a 3W output, these guys looks ready to walk the plank, decibel-wise. But we can't begrudge this pair of wacky speakers for their geeky do and banana yellow leggings. But bearing all these retro stuff must have added a lot to their emotional baggage; these fellows weigh in at 700g. Comes with a DC adapter. US$26.99 a pair.
