The Sense interface on the new HTC Hero.
The HTC Hero was unveiled at an event two days back, and without a doubt the highlight of the launch was not so much the physical features of the smartphone but rather the custom Android interface on it. According to Pocket-lint, CEO Peter Chou confirmed that the new HTC Sense user interface "will be available on some other existing devices". This will give added capabilities such as an expanded Home screen with unique HTC widgets and tighter integration with social-networking tools like Twitter and Facebook. There's no word on which devices exactly will get this, but it's likely to be the HTC Magic which recently went on sale in many parts of the world.
Mobileburn is also reporting that phones bearing the "with Google" logo will not be eligible for the upgrade as licensing terms between Google and HTC would prevent the manufacturer from being able to tweak the interface too much. That's not going to be a problem for us here in Asia as the HTC Magic does not have the Google branding and already has some modifications, most notably being support for Microsoft Exchange.

One of the hallmark features of the iPhone 3GS is video recording. Waterproofing, however, is not part of the package.
YouTube user KhenaKara was filming some poolside footage on his shiny new iPhone 3GS when disaster struck: The phone slipped out of his hand and into the depths of the swimming pool. Lucky for us, he put the video up on YouTube.
Best part: "Crap...wait, it still freakin' works!" Even better, he says that days after the incident the phone still works just fine.
Needless to say, this voids your warranty.

Apple currently provides a one-year limited warranty and up to 90 days of technical support for the iPhone. As of today, you can extend the coverage to two years with the AppleCare Protection Plan for iPhone. However, this must be purchased while the handset is still within the original one-year warranty. The program is being offered in Singapore (S$99), Hong Kong (HK$520), Australia (A$99) and New Zealand (NZ$129).
The iPhone hacking group known as the Dev-Team has released UltraSn0w, an unlocking utility for 2G and 3G iPhones running iPhone OS 3.0. The new utility is easy to use and lets you unlock your jailbroken iPhone for use on a variety of carriers (such as T-Mobile or AT&T in the US). However, it does not support the iPhone 3GS at this time, but, according to the Dev-Team, future releases will support the new hardware.
