Details are fuzzy at the moment, but apparently these are screenshots of the upcoming Windows Mobile 7 (WM7). The one on the left shows the Marketplace interface which is Microsoft's app store for WM. The second shot shows the IM interface, while the third appears to be the Zune UI for navigating media files on the device.
One interesting thing we noticed is that the battery and volume bars are on the bottom of the screen. These are usually found on top together with the time and network quality so it's a bit strange to see them all the way down south. Of course, these screenshots are probably far from final and could possibly even be just concept images.
It'll take some time before we get anything official about WM7 as even the interim version, WM6.5, hasn't even hit the market. But when it does come, what features do you want to see in the next major release of Windows Mobile? Let us know in the Talkback below.
At long last, Skype has come to the iPhone.

Months after teasing us at CES with an announcement of Skype's native VoIP client for the iPhone, the free Skype for iPhone will finally be available to download from the iTunes App Store sometime on Tuesday. We got a chance to sit down with the application's principal engineer before the announcement was made at CTIA 2009, to see Skype for iPhone do its thing.
While most of the features aren't too surprising--Skype does want to maintain some consistency across its mobile applications, after all--there are a few capabilities that are notably missing, and a few iPhone-only perks that are refreshing to see.
In terms of navigation, Skype's VoIP app for iPhone looks more like your traditional iPhone app than it does Skype 4.0 for Windows. For many who already prefer Apple's sleek interface archetype, that's a triumph, but those who enjoy Skype's branding may feel disappointed. Read more »
Slightly more than a month after the 5800 XpressMusic went on sale in Singapore, Nokia has today released a new software update for its first S60 5th Edition handset.
Immediately available for download via the Nokia Software Updater app, the new firmware features a more responsive user interface, reduces download time, and enables still image capture for the secondary camera and burst mode for the main 3.2-megapixel shooter.
The preinstalled dictionary will also get a text-to-speech upgrade and users now have the option to download application updates directly from their handset. The latter can be configured to run automatically whenever updates are available.
Do note that applying software updates will wipe data off the device, restore it to factory default settings. So remember to do the necessary backup before proceeding. Also ensure that your device is either fully charged or plugged in to the mains, or you could run the risk of bricking your device.
Palm Pre, where are you?

The CTIA 2009 spring show is just a few days away, and there are sure to be new product announcements. HTC, Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, LG--they'll all be there. However, there's one company in particular that's at the forefront of my mind, and it would be Palm. I'm sure you can guess why.
Both Palm and Sprint will be in Las Vegas for the show, but the companies don't have any news conferences or major events scheduled--just an invite-only VIP Lounge where they'll have the Palm Pre on display.
I really hope we'll learn some new information at CTIA (ahem, pricing, release date), since we clearly didn't during their last Webcast. However, I fear it'll be more of the same and we'll come home none the wiser. Part of me also thinks that they'll wait till the last possible moment (June) to deliver on their "first half of 2009" promise, but I hope I'm wrong. Read more »
Research In Motion, maker of the popular BlackBerry smartphones, reportedly is preparing to announce a new video download service for its BlackBerry phones at the CTIA trade show next week in Las Vegas.
The blog NewTeeVee, which reported the news earlier this week, said that the service will be offered as an unlimited monthly subscription service. And it adds that RIM has already signed several broadcast and cable partners to offer up content. But instead of streaming the video over the 3G wireless network, RIM is planning a service that will allow the videos to be downloaded using Wi-Fi connections, the site reported. Read more »
