BARCELONA--The latest LG Arena is one hot phone which many exhibition goers clearly wanted to play with. However, the limited number of models available meant it just wasn't possible for all to have a go at the physical unit.
In order for as many people to experience the phone interface as possible, LG set up a series of touchscreen displays which showcase the unique features and applications of the LG Arena. By moving the crystal cube, the virtual display will orientate the phone toward you. Is this as good as the real deal? No. But it sure beats reading about this from a boring brochure.
BARCELONA--The Samsung Blue Earth phone is an amazing piece of technology which brings solar charging to mobile phones. However, the Korean company has bigger plans than simply fusing solar panels to the back of a handset. It intends to create an ecosystem of "green communication" with a range of accessories.
Recognizing that not every country has ready access to sunlight, a dynamo-powered charge is available to convert kinetic energy to electricity. The popular Bluetooth headset has also been given a solar makeover, though we do not know how long it takes to charge the device using the sun. These are currently concept models whose availability remains unknown at this time.

The P9522 is a simple tri-band phone with a design inspired by the sports car label. Though not a PDA-phone, it does have a generous 2.8-inch AMOLED 400 x 240-pixel display (the Omnia HD also has the same screen technology) and a biometric fingerprint sensor for security. Read more »
We were really hoping that Palm would announce the HSDPA/GSM version of the Pre during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, but that didn't happen. The folks at PreCommmunity managed to get some time with the device, and, in a quick shot that showed the back battery cover off, a Vodafone SIM card was spotted.
The fact that it has a Vodafone SIM card indicates that this is a GSM version of the Pre. So even without an official statement, we know that Palm doesn't only have the CDMA version ready. Just why the Sunnyvale company is holding back on an announcement isn't clear. But these manufacturer-operator relations can be tricky, so we just have to be patient. Check out PreCommunity's video after the jump for a quick look at the Palm Pre's SIM card slot. Read more »
