Digitimes is reporting that the fabled mobile phone from Google is still on track, according to its sources in Taiwan. It was supposed to have an EDGE radio like the iPhone, but the same sources indicate that it may now come with 3G instead. That change will cause it to be pushed back to 2008 instead of late 2007, and HTC is rumored to be the manufacturer. It's all speculation, so here's some of our own. Considering how Google works, this will describe the Google phone:
That's our take--what do you think the Google phone will be like?

Expect two new Motos to head your way soon. According to Unwired View, the candy-bar ROKR E8 sports a control dubbed the "Omega Wheel" for music and menu navigation and will also have the same haptic vibration feedback similar to the RAZR2s. The RIZR Z10, on the other hand, appears to have a similar rocker design to the Z8. The quadband handset supports HSDPA, Bluetooth stereo, comes with 90MB of onboard memory, a microSD card slot and a 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera. Now it's Moto's turn to make this official.
It was important enough for his Jobs-ness to take a flight over the pond, but the impact of the announcement is underwhelming. Yes, the iPhone has been launched in the UK. And yes, this is the same 8GB version and will be sold in partnership with O2. It will cost £269 (US$536) including taxes, quite a premium compared with the US$399 price tag in the US (taxes there are state-dependent).
And the answer to that question on everyone's lips: No, it doesn't have 3G.
O2 has mobile plans ranging from £35 to £55 a month, all with unlimited data use over EDGE. 7,500 Wi-Fi hotspots will also be free to use for iPhone owners. When asked about 3G, Jobs said we'll see it "later next year".
There are a lot more details over at Crave UK for those interested. All we wanted to know was whether it's the same iPhone as the one they get over in the US, and that's answered. And for those who just shipped iPhones in to Asia at exorbitant prices--you can sleep well tonight knowing that there isn't a better one over in Europe.

If you think the KRZR K3m sounds familiar, that's because it is. Remember the KRZR K3? Motorola has just announced the KRZR K3m available exclusively to SingTel in Singapore. The HSDPA-enabled set is going at S$299 with a two-year plan. So what does this rehashed model bring to the plate? Apparently not much, except for touch-sensitive music keys on the top lid of the clamshell similar to the RAZR2 series.
In a joint press release, several major mobile phone manufacturers have announced that they will be collaborating on a removable memory format to be finalized in 2009. This will be done with JEDEC, a developer for standards for the solid-state industry.
What does this mean for you? Well, look at it this way--the mobile phone companies involved here are Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson. Together, these companies account for more than half of all mobile phones sold in the world currently.
