We can almost picture Symbian S60 users doing the ^5 with their Windows Live counterparts (or is it the other way round?) and Rick Astley crooning Together Forever in the background. Ok, that's a bit over the top, but Nokia has announced that selected S60 devices will now support Windows Live services including Live Hotmail, Live Messenger, Live Contacts and Live Spaces.
Can you have too much of a good thing? Apparently never, according to Danish designer Bang & Olufsen (B&O) and Korean mobile giant Samsung. Having collaborated to give the world the Serene, a premium phone that's part land line, part mobile, they're now about to lift the lid on… drum rolls… the Serenata. Before you ask what in tarnation does the name mean and who came up with it, you'll have to also imagine what it looks like--since no "official" photo yet exists. A B&O representative in Singapore cannot confirm if the one circulating on the Web (as shown) is the real McCoy.
Part deux is expected to be unveiled in Berlin at the IFA trade fair on October 1, with selected European markets to get it first this year. We do have news that the Serenata will make its way to Asia possibly in 2008, which would probably bring it head-to-head with Apple's iPhone.
Both B&O and Samsung are keeping mum on the specs. But speculation on several gadget sites is that the fashion phone will sport a wheel keypad design similar to the Serene as well as a 262K-color touchscreen display, 4GB onboard memory and 3G/HSDPA support.

OK, we admit that title is slightly misleading. But think about it, that's what an iPhone is outside of the US--a really expensive iPod. Well, a certain Singaporean owner wasn't too happy with that, and bravely attempted the Turbo SIM hack to unlock his AT&T-activated iPhone. And as you can tell from the image, he didn't end up with an iBrick.
More on what it cost him, the process and a larger picture, after the jump.

In Europe that is. No word on when it will reach Asia shores, so the wait for the iPhone and its army of clones continues. Lucky sods flying up to the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin next week will be able to get their paws on the new KU990 for some touch and feel. For now, we're already collecting buckets of drool just gawking at pictures of the 5.1-megapixel autofocus camera-phone with Schneider Kreuznach lens, ISO 800 sensitivity, image stabilizer, 3-inch touchscreen LCD and 120fps video. Wait, who the hell needs a 120 frame rate for shooting videos on a mobile phone? Guess you can't have too much of a good thing.
Here's one for Spidey emulators who can't seem to get enough of the arachnid hero. The invention involves a phone mounted on a sliding tray clipped to the wrist. And when you do the Web-squirting motion with your fingers, the handheld will slide out to your palm. Apparently the patent for this phone was registered way back in 2004.
The best part is there's no risk of turning into Venom or falling from buildings if the Web snaps, but you still get to play the character of Spiderman. Or at least act like one.
Has anyone seen a phone like this on shelves yet? We want one.
