The Finnish mobile company announced three new additions to its 2006 N-series lineup, including the top-of-the-line N92 with onboard DVB-H receiver, the Wi-Fi-equipped N80 slider and the 3G-enabled N71 with 2-megapixel camera.

Handsfree Speaker Kit

Juniper Foo  |  Nov 10, 2005

At just US$26, the build quality here is rather doubtful. But for people you know who've been bellyaching about the lack of a loudspeaker on their handsets, this external handsfree unit might just do the trick. All you have to do is clip the transmitter over the hearing port on your mobile, and it'll transmit the other party's voice wirelessly up to 3m to a speaker unit. It's nothing like Samsung's elegantly tiny, pyramid-shaped SoundMate attachment, but it's a start.

Buddy Bear Phone

Juniper Foo  |  Nov 02, 2005

This should go matchingly well with the Aria Mubie MP3 player. That is if you're into teddy bear-shaped stuff. However, it's aimed at tykes aged three to 10, and is really more parent- than kid-friendly in that the owner of the handset won't be able to dial any numbers and ring up a huge phone bill. Instead, the LCD-less Buddy Bear phone comes with preprogrammed numbers and a preset SMS to four selected recipients. Everything is quite cleverly integrated. The four paws double as keys to dial the four preset contacts. LEDs in the ears start blinking when a call comes through. While an SOS button is located at the side of the head. And if this bear ever gets low on power, it would even SMS the parent. Oh, and get this. Mum and dad can apparently dial in to listen to what junior is up to, much like a remote baby monitor, without his knowledge. Now that's what we call sneaky.

Here's a closeup
