Christmas seems to have arrived early for Motorola, after the phone maker launched not one, not two, but three new handsets over the past weekend. The PEBL and L6 phones were announced in an earlier press release. Then there's the pink RAZR which we only found out today. Company representatives has assured that the pink RAZR is not a limited edition unit, so there is no need to rush down to stores to buy one. But given that it has gathered quite a bit of interest on the CNET Asia site since its announcement, we believe it will be in short demand throughout the X'mas season. The pink RAZR will be sold at the same price as its silver and black predecessors.
First take of the pink RAZR
Rumor has it that Dopod will be launching a handheld that sports similar features and dimensions as the upcoming O2 Xda Atom. We are not sure if this is just pure coincidence or smart marketing strategy on Dopod's part, but sales of the Atom will suffer for sure, if the new Dopod PDA-phone makes its rumored debut in mid-December. Watch out for more updates.
Our first impressions of the Atom
The long-awaited Motorola PEBL clamshell and ultra-slim L6 candy bar will be available in Singapore from November 26, according to a press release issued earlier by the US-based phone maker. The Motorola PEBL in black will retail at S$688 (US$496.50) without operator plan and S$538 (US$388.25) with a two-year contract, while the Motorola L6 will be offered at S$488 (US$352.17) and S$338 (US$243.92) (two-year plan), respectively.
More details on the phones
The much-anticipated O2 Xda Atom was spotted at O2's SITEX booth. The PDA-phone is available just for demo, however, and is expected to start shipping only in early December. However, those interested can make reservations through pre-sales orders at the booth.
The SITEX '05 fair was surprisingly not as crowded as we'd expect, though the location and Thursday being a work day were likely reasons for the less-than-usual crowd showing. For those looking for a new PDA, there were several good deals offered at the show, among them the HP iPaq hw6515, Palm LifeDrive and recently launched Dopod 900. Most can be found bundled with freebies ranging from Bluetooth headsets to GPS kits, to wireless keyboards.
