Another iPod, another diamond--or 586 of
them, to be exact. In this latest example of egregious excess, a company called Ice Forever will reportedly cover your nano in 10.36 carats of diamonds set in 14k white gold.
But if you're worried about the cost, take heart: This is an after-market service, so you'll save money by having the bling job done on the iPod you already own, rather than having to pay the additional mark-up charged by the
customizer. That will bring the cost down to a mere pittance of US$12,495, according to BornRich.
Still, we don't know how they expect anyone to settle for less than 18k or 24k these days. Besides, we all know that what's important is quality, not quantity.
The next time you go on a trip with Tony, he'll be sitting in the cargo space of the plane. Better yet, he won't complain, won't make demands every night, and will dog your footsteps like a lovelorn puppy, short of wagging his tail. Tony is robotic suitcase developed in Russian. Whether there's a market for this remains to be seen, though you'll have to wait preeety long to get ahold of on. The developers from Robotronic.ru are testing the waters by scheduling this for sale only in 2009, and via a Russian catalog. Vy govorite po-angliyski? Speak you Russian? Pray the instructions aren't in Russian, either.
Tony sounds intriguing enough even if the photo shows a oddly impractical design. We're guessing the suitcase will also be weighed down by all that machinery. So forget packing in extra footwear.
Onboard are an internal gyroscope, light, sound and infrared detectors and sensors which allow Tony to detect stairs as well as follow you without bumping into anything. A card in your pocket allows the suitcase to track you. And if some twerp were to steal it, an alarm will sound. Though at a US$2,000 sticker shock, we'd suggest you take out a nice insurance package on Tony. Stay, boy, stay.
LG showcased its Shine slider in silver at its recent launch in Korea, but it seems a gold version of the sleek handset could well be in the pipeline. This phone prototype was spotted by CNET Asia during a tour of the company's design center in Seoul. However, don't get your hopes too high yet as LG has not confirmed if the gold LG Shine will ever make its way to Asia.
Meanwhile, LG has also announced that it will be launching its third Black Label series handsets before the end of 2007. No details have been released for the new fashion lineup. The Chocolate and the Shine are the first and second series in the Black Label product portfolio.
Online store Hammacher Schlemmer continually amazes us with the stuff it stocks. There's virtually nothing it won't sell, from transparent kayaks to hydrogen fuel cell cars, short of doing a Harrods where it's said you can even buy an elephant. This time, HS has in its catalog a portable ice rink. And none too soon for Christmas in the colder climes where a couple of days' freezing temperature plus the Portable Ice Rink gives you an instant playpen to hold your own ice hockey tournaments or ice-skating skids. For those celebrating the festive season in the tropics and Under, stick to ice lollies for some cold fun. Coz that's all the chilly Christmas you're going to get.
Sorry, you can't surf and shower with this. What the Digital Shower Groththerm Wireless does is let you preset--by remote control--the temperature for your next bath, besides customizing different settings for the rest of the family. Which is a really nice convenience to have, if you happen to have US$1,376 lying around somewhere. Just make sure the remote's beyond junior's reach. Else you're likely to get a rude awakening quicker than you can say wireless be damned.
