These "designer" contact lenses contain the meds in a doughtnut-shaped pouch (insert) that doesn't interfere with the wearer's vision. (Credit: Wired)
This caught my eye, simply because it's one heck of a novel way to deliver your meds. That said, I'm still wearing spectacles only because I've never been able to keep my eyes open long enough to put them in. The last attempt resulted in a lot of tearing, some of it tears of frustration. But back to this rather nifty delivery method. Your own indoor garden, minus the dirt and soil. (Credit: Prepara)
It's hard to ignore the incessant messages to buy local, plant a garden, check for organic labels, and lead a sustainable lifestyle, yet most of us dismiss these suggestions as practices that require too much money, time, and effort.

A self-portrait drawn by hand, but whose hand? (Credit: Jen Hui Liao)
You no longer have to be a Michaelangelo or Rembrandt to paint great portraits, thanks to technology. The Renaissance and Dutch masters talked about capturing the soul of the subject in their paintings. But hey, since I can't draw squat save for stickmen, this will do just fine. However, since there's no word on a commercial launch, it may be just as well for those who can truly bring life to paper.

Rainy days are good for only one activity: Sleeping in.
Unfortunately for those who still have to earn their keep, there's the weather to deal with. Which is why we're big fans of high-tech brollies at Crave Asia. They keep us (relatively) dry and make the journey less of a sodden trudge.
Two versions of the Twilight umbrellas are available: The Starlight with sparkling white lights and the Spectrum with phasing multicolored lights. These attention-seeking LEDs require three AAA-sized batteries to power and can be turned off. The inner lining is silver, but black on the outside. Available now on Firebox for US$41.
