StarHub was the first pay TV provider in Singapore to offer HD content with the introduction of its National Geographic HD and Discovery HD channels in early 2007. However unlike the competing SingTel MioTV, the telecommunication giant didn't offer Hollywood blockbusters in high resolutions. But from October 1, StarHub will be rolling out HBO in HD (channel 602) which offers commercial-free movies and serials with enhanced sound and visuals in widescreen format.
HBO in HD is available free to the company's HBO Pak subscribers. However, as this new HD channel is offered only as part of the HBO Pak bundle, customers will have to sign up and upgrade to the package for a monthly fee of S$17.12 (US$12.35) and S$4.28 (US$3.09), respectively. To encourage current HBO subscribers to switch over, StarHub is sweetening the deal with an upgrade waiver for the first three months in October. Refer to the official press release here for more information.

In an announcement at the Tokyo Game Show on Thursday, Microsoft noted that nearly all of the big names in video games are working on Natal titles.

SAN FRANCISCO--Immersive entertainment is already happening as we speak. We're watching 3D movies of animation like Ice Age 3, while vendors such as Philips is working on 3D TVs. However, at a keynote on the third and final day of the Intel Developer Forum, audiences got to put on 3D goggles to watch as Howard Postly, COO and CTO of 3ality Digital, virtually "stepped off" a giant screen onto the stage to greet Justin Rattner, Intel senior fellow, VP and director of Intel Labs and Intel CTO. And the cool factor was that all this was live.
The demonstration was followed by a clip of a U2 concert in 3D.

As expected, Sony has finally unveiled a 250GB version of the new PS3 Slim at the 2009 Tokyo Game Show. The upsized console will be offered as the Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Edition in Japan for 41,600 yen (US$459) due in mid-December. Besides doubling the storage capacity, this model will be available in white and features a Final Fantasy character printed on the console's chassis. A copy of Final Fantasy XIII is bundled in the package, too. We'll have to wait to see whether this kit will subsequently make its way out of Japan to other regions. We're keeping our fingers crossed for now.
Editors' note: Launch dates of the PS3 Slim for more Asian countries have been updated in the article.
On a separate note, things are looking bright for the PS3 Slim so far with a whopping 1 million units sold worldwide in just three weeks.
