LG shines beyond mobile to TV

Philip Wong  |  Jul 24, 2007

If you're having a time hard differentiating the picture quality from one brand to another, you are not alone here. It's coming to the point where most panels have near-identical visuals, more than passable to the layman and couch potato. So what better way to stand out from the crowd than giving the TV an all-round shiny treatment which works wonders for ladies? It's a tried-and-proven formula first tested by Samsung despite the dreadful fingerprint smudges and dust accumulation.

To boost its aesthetics, the LB9 also features a rather unique ring-shaped stand and wave-inspired bezel design. The former comes in either black or red, currently available only for its 32-inch models at no extra cost. Pretty face aside, it features a highly sought-after Super-In Plane Switching LCD panel. This offers a promising 10,000:1 dynamic contrast, ultra-fast 5ms response time and an industry-leading 178-degree viewing angle, almost similar to its LC7 less a brighter 500cd/m2 lumens.

The 32- and 42-incher will be released in Singapore next month at S$2,299 (US$1,512.50) and S$4,499 (US$2,959.87), respectively. This will be followed by another subsequent September launch for the living room-centric 47-inch model. Relevant details for the rest of Asia were not available at press time.

Crystallized Loewe TV

Philip Wong  |  Jul 24, 2007

Still drooling over the Philips diamond FlatTV? While we can't tell you when the Dutch company will be auctioning off that sparkling piece, here is another alternative for you gemstone aficionados. Loewe is partnering with Swarovski to bring you a crystal-encrusted Individual-series LCD TV. No less dazzling than the Philips, the 32-incher is lined with hundreds of tiny bling blings from the top to its sides, and extending well to the bottom.

Looks aside, you could probably convince your better half to sign on the dotted line by highlighting these key capabilities. The Individual-series is shipped with an integrated digital video recorder which tapes up to 100 hours of TV footage. There are also not one but two DVB TV tuners, a bonus for those fortunate souls with digital broadcasting services available in their home country.

Each of these stunning beauties is going for S$10,888 (US$7,163.16) with an option for either dark or light crystals. If you are going after the elusive factor, perhaps the 1,000-unit worldwide-only carrot might be another added draw.
