Customers are about to get further spoilt for choice when Ipifini's patent, which is pending, goes commercial. The company has managed to bottle customization in a container, using its Programmable Liquid Container technology, with buttons on the surface to release additives into the liquid. So if one takes a "programmable" cola bottle with buttons for lemon, lime, vanilla and cherry flavors as well as a caffeine button, that gives the user 32 whopping combinations of soda. Say, water, anyone?
Martha (as in Stewart) may have done time in the slammer. But she's still one sought-after lady, endorsing gizmos aimed at turning homebodies into Stepford Wives. This one here gets our thumbs up, even if you'll probably look ridiculous donning it in the kitchen. But at least no one will see you crying over cut onions. Comes with anti-fog lenses and foam seal for protection from those irritating vapors.
We still have fond memories of Singaporean Winston Chai's singing microwave oven, an entry in last year's designboom kitchen design competition. Oddly, another Asian has also gone musical gaga, with this year's entry being a cookware that attempts to hit the high notes by streaming MP3 files wirelessly while steaming food. China-born David Gu's Cooking Audio Player certainly tops the Dechef Oven for its ability to play new tunes. However, with all that sensitive touchpad circuitry onboard, this kitchen tool just doesn't play our song since it most definitely won't be dishwasher-safe.
If Ben & Jerry's can sell ice cream locks, why not one for candyholics determined to control their sweet tooth? The Shocolate Vault Jar marries the best of the Euphori-Lock and the Taiyo BuzzTrainer USB shock therapy device. If you haven't already guessed it, this little goody bottle throws in a little shock treatment to, well, jar you out of the habit. Works just as well to deter sticky fingers. Stash your sweets or even ciggies away in this vault, set the timer, and see how long you can suffer the countdown. Masochists need not apply.

If one had a time-traveling DeLorean and went far enough into the future, humankind would probably resemble those statues on Easter Island--all big heads and tiny bodies. And we'll have to thank those gizmos that take the labor out of little things, such as this self-stirring mug. Armed with a battery-operated propeller sitting at the bottom of the cup, all it takes is one button touch to leave your beverage/sugar/milk mix stirred, if not shaken.
