Till now, the only two Android phones that have been announced are the HTC Dream and Magic. The Dream is commercially available, while the Magic will go on sale in Europe starting May 5. Today, we can add another to that list: Samsung's first Android-powered smartphone, the I7500.
Like the Magic, the I7500 will come with a large touchscreen display and no physical QWERTY keyboard. The difference is that its 3.2-inch HVGA (320 x 480) screen is of the AMOLED variety, still a rarity compared with the more commonly seen LCDs on mobile phones. These are supposed to be thinner and provide better battery efficiency, though, in our experience with some of the handsets which employ this display technology, they are also difficult to see when used in direct sunlight.
Another key difference from the HTC Magic is the availability of a 3.5mm audio jack. This will allow you to plug in your favorite pair of headphones for music and video playback. Read more about the features of the I7500 in our first take here.
The I7500 will be available in Europe starting June, but its price is still undisclosed. Samsung says the phone will be out in Asia, but we will have to wait a little longer as it will ship here only in Q3.

The Toshiba TG01 Windows Mobile (WM) smartphone hasn't even reached the market but there are already rumors of the TG02 and TG03. Techblog has pictures of these follow-up devices.
Like the TG01, the TG02 will come with the 1GHz Snapdragon processor and WM6.5 at launch. What's noteworthy is that the casing will be supposedly waterproof, which is great for those who aren't always careful with their handsets. More after the jump.

As you may have seen by now, Precentral.net got ahold of an internal memo from AT&T comparing its precious iPhone 3G to the Palm Pre, and not surprisingly, bashing the Pre as an inferior device.
Now, you know I've haven't been particular happy with Sprint or Palm about the way they're been handling the Pre, but I'm coming to their defense here and saying that this is just plain laughable. Let's take a closer look, shall we?

The upcoming Acer F1 smartphone.
Though the focus was on its series of Windows Mobile (WM) 6.1 handhelds today, Acer also took the opportunity to provide a teaser about its lineup for the second half of 2009. The four upcoming products are codenamed F1, L1, C1 and E1 and will all run on Microsoft's latest WM6.5 operating system.
The F1 will be launched in September this year. It comes with a 3.8-inch WVGA (800 x 480) touchscreen display, and according to earlier reports, uses the 800MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. A 1GHz version of that chip first came into prominence when Toshiba announced that it will power its upcoming TG01 smartphone. More details and pictures after the jump.
