Rainy days are good for only one activity: Sleeping in.
Unfortunately for those who still have to earn their keep, there's the weather to deal with. Which is why we're big fans of
high-tech brollies at Crave Asia. They keep us (relatively) dry and make the journey less of a sodden trudge.
Two versions of the Twilight umbrellas are available: The Starlight with sparkling white lights and the Spectrum with phasing multicolored lights. These attention-seeking LEDs require three AAA-sized batteries to power and can be turned off. The inner lining is silver, but black on the outside. Available now on
Firebox for US$41.

Sorry, not for me the oodles of patience required for intricate paper folding to assemble incredible stuff like this astoundingly tiny
DS lite with working hinge. I did go so far as to print out one of
Yamaha's paper-folding kits (well, I did) after Mike our blogger wrote about it. But that was the extent of my
exinspiration.
However, if you're the sort who likes the origami-boggling challenge of papercraft, and can chopstick up minute paper sculptures with just toothpick, glue, scissors and nimble fingers, check out the
DIY Paper Speakers from gadget maker Princeton. These have a nice retro spin to them. Even better, they're real working PC speakers as there's a teensy 3W amp and 1W speaker, with 3.5mm audio jack and USB cable bundled in the kit. These ship this month in Japan (but of course) at 1,980 yen (US$20.45) each.

I don't have a dog right now, but if I did, I totally wouldn't trust it to
roam around my apartment while I'm not there. Who
knows what kind of
mischief it'll get into or what it'll find lurking in my sock drawer. This
Pet's
Eye View Camera makes it easy to keep track of your dog, but US$55 is too
expensive for what appears to be a glorified Webcam.
