Sega Toys helps you create your own fireworks

With Singapore's National Day celebrations coming up in August, we've been catching glimpses of firework trials along the Esplanade waterfront. Ritz-Carlton, a ritzy five-star hotel with an excellent view of the fireworks, charges a very nice premium for Singaporeans planning a stay-cation during its National Day two-nighter from S$2,200.

Drawbot creates art at the push of a button

I don't care how much money you spend on a piece of hoity-toity artwork--eventually you're going to get sick of looking at it. To keep things interesting, the folks at Rhode Island's AS220 Labs art space have created a drawing robot (Drawbot, for short) that can whip up a new work of art at the push of a button.

The AS220 Drawbot kit includes two wall-mountable DC motors, two string spools, a pen clip, and a controller board built around a Sanguino microcontroller. The whole kit comes inside a laser-cut wooden box engraved with the mandala pattern that comes pre-programmed on the Drawbot.

Sanyo's Eneloop Lamp flashlight also heals?

Sanyo is turning to LED light technology, a hot new area for experimentation, to squeeze three uses out of a single lamp. The company's new Eneloop Lamp is a desk light that can also work as an emergency flashlight and even send some healing energy your way--or so the company says.

Operating on rechargeable AA eneloop batteries, Sanyo's new Eneloop Lamp based on high-luminance LED technology can be situated anywhere in the room since no cords constrain the placement.

Go green with the Solar Vest

At first glance we thought it was just another photographer's equipment canvas vest right until we noticed the words "SOLAR VEST" printed on the back in a humongous font size.

Consisting of four solar panels capable of generating a total 6W of green electricity, the power is used to charge an 8,800mAh battery which is kept in a vest pocket. The battery features a 5V, 6V, 9V and 12-20V selectable output.
