Flashlights can be serious business for some people, with collectors spending upward of US$200 for a high-end one. That's not what the Battery Snap is. This US$5 flashlight connects directly to a 9V battery and can be turned on using a tiny switch on the top. That's it, there's nothing more to it. The simplicity of this gadget makes it great for kids, especially if you are giving them a physics lesson on electricity.
Unfortunately, the online shopping site which sells this product doesn't ship outside of the US. We did a quick Google search and found someother manufacturers which sell it wholesale to companies, which will usually print their own logos on it and give them away as promotional items. We reckon it's not exactly a very new product. Let us know in Talkback if you have one or have seen it in a novelty shop.
Today is a very bright, sunny day in Seattle. I wore my sunglasses. My sunglasses are rarely used, yet badass. They are not, though, as badass as these variable aperture goggles we found on SmugMug. Change down the aperture and you get less light. They're awesome.
Sadly, they're a concept and not actually for sale, which is too bad. While I'm not a huge fan of the steampunk movement, I understand it. That being said, I would totally rock these, if I could get them in my prescription. I'm that much of a nerd.
I would, of course, have to pair them with my floppy leather hat with a big red feather. If I'm going to go retro, I'm going to go all the way.
According to developers poking through the latest version of the iPhone OS 3.0 beta, it seems that the Mobile Notes application in iPhone OS 3.0 is capable of detecting phone numbers, URLs, and email addresses when viewing a note. Once detected, which the operating system shows by underlining the data, simply touching that item launches the corresponding Phone, Mobile Safari, or Mobile Mail application. (Source: AppleInsider)
When Apple unveiled the iPhone 3.0 OS in March, it only showed off a few of the new features that are going to arrive with the next release. Developers are being given over 1,000 new APIs to play with--allowing to them to tie their applications to parts of the iPhone's hardware in ways that were previously forbidden--and details have been trickling out ever since.
Look, I understand wanting comfort. I am a glutton for comfort. That doesn't
mean I'm going to buy up every Snuggie-like thing I see to achieve my version of
comfy nirvana. I don't let it force me to cross the line from having class.
That would include these air-conditioned
coffins, currently all the rage in part of Serbia. After I die I figure I'll
have more on my mind, like explaining that night in Reno with the Montgomery
twins to Saint Peter. If my body gets a little toasty in the cold crypt six feet
under, well, I'd be OK with that.
But maybe I'm alone. According to the Daily Star, the coffins--which retail
for about US$6,600--are selling very well. No word on how they work, for how long
they work, or even if they work. If anyone in Serbia is reading this, listen:
Have the mortician apply deodorant and save your loved ones some money, OK?

Normally, it would be contraindicated to take a marker to your dress. Not so with Color-in-Clothing, which you'll actually want to mark up. That's the way you give it color and infuse it with your own sense of style.
The customizable garb is the result of a collaboration between Dutch fashion designer Berber Soepboer and Dutch graphic designer Michiel Schuurman.
We're waiting to find out if and where the striking dress in the photos can be purchased, and if you can safely remove the markings if you're considering a whole new look.
Do note that you'll want to use a fabric marker rather than, say, a highlighter pen or your kids' crayons. Just be sure to color inside the lines--or not, if that's more in keeping with with your fashion aesthetic.
(Update: Soepboer tells us the dress isn't yet available for purchase, but should be soon. We'll keep you posted!)
