Steve Jobs doll for sale, Conficker sold separately

Justin Yu  |  Apr 03, 2009

Whether you use it as a sleeping aid or a pincushion is up to you, but the unofficial Steve Jobs doll is officially for sale at Podbrix.

He's pretty cute though, right? Just as you'd expect, the 17-inch tall doll bears a striking resemblance to everyone's favorite Applet, with the classic black turtleneck, a pair of wire glasses, and even a set of hand-stitched shoelaces. No bottle of Smart Water, though, probably because of that whole royalties thing. You, not your children (the glasses are a choking hazard), can pick up your own Plush Jobs here for a bargain US$27.99.

Nothing personal, Steve, but I personally think the Woz would make a better snuggle buddy; I mean, just look at this guy and try to tell me he doesn't look like he gives the best hugs ever. More pictures after the jump.

Super Mario Rube Goldberg machine

John Chan  |  Apr 02, 2009

(Credit: The Pennsylvania State University)

A Rube Goldberg machine is something that does a simple task in a complex manner. You usually see these in cartoons or TV commercials and they are always fun to watch. In a Rube Goldberg machine contest held in the US, this entry took the top prize.

If you haven't already noticed, it follows the Super Mario Bros video game theme complete with a castle, mushrooms, green pipes and even an old SNES console connected to it. For all its complexity, what was achieved at the end was that a light bulb got changed. It's a pity there are no videos of this in action--so just enjoy the still shot for now.

Bringing the bacon (briefcase) home

Juniper Foo  |  Apr 02, 2009

(Credit: VLCC)

Last month, our assistant editor's bacon mania led him by the nose to the only tech booth at Singapore's annual IT Show selling bacon salt alongside earphones (we kid you not). So when we saw this, we immediately thought of him. Though with it looking good enough to eat, we'll have to watch that he doesn't try gnawing on this accompanied by a dash of bacon salt at lunch. Too bad for him, this one's just an ad from VLCC, India's largest heath and beauty brand, hamming it up. Other meaty and cheesy headturners below for the cannivores among you.

For the most stylish Guitar Hero in your life

Joshua Goldman  |  Apr 02, 2009
All this time I thought "FC" stood for full combo, but apparently it's French cuffs. Yes, the next time you suit up after a successful squeeze you can pop in a set of replica Strats SGs to keep your cuffs together.

Be sure to explain to everyone who asks if you play guitar or if you're in a band that you are just expressing your love for an awesome game and point out the colored buttons on the neck of the guitars. Then start miming playing SatD.

Each silver-plated cufflink measures approximately 0.75 inches high by 0.5 inches wide with bullet-back closures.

Pick a pair up for US$50.

Navigate Brother's latest USB sewing machine with a mouse

Leonard Goh  |  Apr 01, 2009

Seamstresses may find themselves out of job soon if Brother continues to develop sewing machines like the Innov-is 6000D. This multitalented gadget commemorates the Japanese company's 100th anniversary, and is probably what clothes makers and fashion designers dream of at night.

The Innov-is 6000D can not only sew, it is also capable of embroidery, quilting and crafting. But what really sets this machine apart from its competitors are the advanced technologies that aid users in operating it. The Innov-is 6000D has three USB 2.0 ports to attach compatible peripherals (such as a computer mouse, which we will touch on later) or to plug a USB stick in to transfer downloaded stitching patterns or upgrade the firmware. It also has an 8.5-inch touchscreen LCD where the menu can be navigated by using a mouse.
