Kindle titles could be available soon on a variety of mobile devices.
(Credit: Amazon)
Some people have criticized Amazon for essentially making the Kindle a "closed" e-book reader system. However, word from Yahoo Finance is that it might not be so closed after all and that Amazon will be making its Kindle books available on a wide variety of mobile phones in the near future.
At this point, it's unclear whether it will be offering up all its Kindle titles (the Kindle Store currently has about 230,000 e-books for sale) or just a fraction of them. Amazon spokesman Drew Herdener simply said the company is working on making Kindle books available "on a range of mobile phones".
Additionally, Google announced Friday that titles from its Book Search service will be available for reading on the iPhone and T-Mobile's G1, which uses Google's Android operating system. Read more »
I, for one, welcome our robot overlords.
(Credit: Little Island)
Oh come on, admit it: You've always craved a tiny robot duplicate of yourself. That's not at all creepy.
Fortunately, a Japanese company, Little Island, is ready to accommodate your narcissistic tendencies. And while you can't use it as an evil robot minion, you can order it around and use it to read your RSS feeds and make VoIP calls.
Yep, not only does it respond to voice commands (something my kids aren't all that great at), it will talk to you in a synthesized version of your voice.

If you happen to have to sleep next to a snorer, there's now hope. And it runs with batteries.
HBI, a maker of biomedical devices, has introduced a new device called SnorePro which can keep you from being awakened by snores. It's a small wrist-worn device that a snorer wears when going to bed. The device uses HBI's proprietary Dynamic Snore Detection technology to detect snores and gently issue a programmable digital pulse to prevent snoring.
HBI--which not long ago came out with an acupressure wristband to induce sleep--claims the digital pulse functions much like a spouse nudging his or her snoring bedmate. Over time, this trains the body of the snorer to change sleep positions to eliminate the snoring.

Call me overly protective, but were I to own a pet, I'd probably try to keep
it far away from gadgets that advertise themselves as "high voltage".
Yet the High
Voltage Pet Brush out of China makes no bones (bones, get it?!) about using
that somewhat offputting phrase in the title. The battery-operated gizmo
promises, using "high voltage supplied by low voltage", to remove shedding hair,
as well as kill fleas and "other living things attached to the pet". Hopefully,
that does not include affectionate owners.
As Crave reader Jeremy pointed out when he alerted us to this odd
contraption, it could prove useful in charging your Sega robo-cat. You might want to do a
bit more research, however, before letting it near the non-robo variety.
