This ranks right up there with the
Sushi Specs and
Handy Wallet Gadgets. Design firm Ineke Hans, in the best tradition of Japanese Chindogu or art of unusefulness, makes these credit card utensils which you can store in your wallet until such time as the need arises. Judging from the pop-out result, you might be better off using your fingers. More gimmick than gimme.

Quite simply, third-party iPod vendors are going bananas. Kiwami Studio has unleashed a US$818 case for a US$149 nano on Apple worshippers. For that kind of serious money, you don't even get to sniff any bling. However, the casing is solid Titanium, which ought to go prettily with Nokia's 8910 Titanium handset. Then again, who'd have thought people would fork out US$4,240 for the
humble keyboard, in Japanese lacquer no less.

This brings Asterix's pal Obelisk to mind. For those not familiar with the French comic characters,
Obelisk is Asterix's closest buddy who works as a menhir delivery man when not bashing up Roman legionnaires. This may well have been the inspiration for the Obelisk Chairs. Stacked together, they certainly resemble Obelisk's giant quarry stone. And it's a great idea for space-starved homes. Taken apart, they magically morph into a party of one table and four aluminum frame chairs wrapped in woven polyethylene, with white cushions. But at nearly US$9,000 an asking price, that's one hot seat to park your guests on. Nahhh. Beanbags, anyone?
