Why is a stapler a stapler if it's staple-less? It's no trick question, though this isn't the first such stapleless stapler. It does, however, have a rather interesting form factor that looks like someone swiped a siren off the top of a police car. This one does its bid for Mother Earth by doing away with those little metallic bits. Just note that it can bind only three to five sheets of paper, and does so by punching holes out of the sheet, then using the flaps of paper as a buckle. Not particularly binding, but for US$2.49 a pop, this is no hardship on your pocket.

You've probably at some time in your life done battle with a frozen tub of ice cream. Curses and Norman Bate moments later hacking the scoop, you've made no headway with that Peanut Crunch Delight. It's set in concrete and your guests are thumping the table in mutiny. The conventional wisdom is to dump it aside to thaw a bit, if you can wait, or chuck it into the microwave for some zap time. There's a better way, though. An electric scooper. Just what every overstuffed kitchen drawer needs. The scoop heats up, allowing you to cut through even the most rock-solid ice cream slab. Before you know it, you're cutting through entire gallons. Too bad this is tethered and not battery operated to allow you can bring along on picnic outings.
Fancy your own hottub floating paradise? Hotpod has a nice one here. You get to swim and you get to spa at the same time, which is what R&R should be all about. The Hotpod looks easy enough to set up. According to the literature, you only have to connect the suction and intake hose of the pool. The pod then takes water right from your pool heater and pumps it through six hydro-engineered jets. Meanwhile, it's cosy enough for up to four adults without having to sit on each other's laps (unless so desired). The only catch: It's doubtful any of the public or condominium pools here in Asia will let you connect this to the pool's heater. Shucks.

Another eclectic design by the team of Suck UK. This designer Sun Jar collects and stores liquid sunshine in a bottle, so that by night this store of energy is converted to light. Best of all, it sits inconspicuously on a ledge in the day, but once dusk sets, it flicks itself on. Magical!
