With both Sony and Microsoft dropping the price of the PS3 and the Xbox
360 Elite, the Wii is beginning to look like an overpriced console.
There a few reasons Nintendo needs to drop at least US$50 off the company's bestselling home console and fast.
The shortage is over Anyone who wants a Wii has one by now.
Consumers in the market for a console will no longer look to the Wii for its
affordability over the competition. In fact, an Xbox
360 Arcade can be had for less than the price of a Wii already.

Now that the Nintendo E3 2009 press conference is behind us, let's take a look at some of the game announcements for the Wii. While we saw a few titles we were expecting, there were a couple that came as total surprises.
Right out of the gate, we got to see a brand-new 2D Mario Bros. game for the Wii. New Super Mario Bros. will allow for four-player co-op playing and will feature new game characters and powerups.

Shortly after rumors began to surface about a Nintendo DS successor, the company officially announced that the next Nintendo handheld would be called the DSi and will include two bigger screens, two cameras, and would be 12 percent slimmer than the DS lite (at the expense of the Game Boy Advance slot). But perhaps what's most exciting about the DSi is the addition of a DS Store, where you'll be able to download games directly to the device (which will also have an SD slot). For a look at the new DSi and its store, watch the video below.
While nothing has been confirmed by Microsoft, a suspicious Xbox Live in-dash
ad definitely points to November for the long-awaited dashboard relaunch. CNET
sister site GameSpot
reports that an ad for Rock
Band 2 blatantly claims to "Check out the New Xbox Experience coming
in November!"
We first learned details about the brand new Xbox Live dashboard at this
summer's E3 2008 press conference, where it was also announced that the new interface would support personal
avatars--think Nintendo Mii characters--and Netflix streaming capabilities.
Other new features offered by the update will include the ability to completely
install a game onto the system's hard drive, which will drastically reduce the
strain on the console's DVD drive and potentially decrease loading times.
The Xbox 360 recently saw a price drop, making the entry-level system the lowest priced next-generation
console on the market. We hope to have more information on the highly
anticipated dashboard update when Microsoft makes an official announcement.
While Xbox 360 has had the option to type away on the Xbox 360 ChatPad, PS3 owners will soon have the same luxury with the announcement of the Wireless Keypad at the Leipzig Games Convention. The device can hook on to either a Sixaxis or DualShock 3 controller and allow gamers to send messages to friends over the PlayStation Network. This functionality will also come into play with the eminent release of PlayStation Home.
Most interesting is that the Wireless Keypad features a mode that converts the entire surface into a touchpad for use with something like navigating a Web page. Also built-in is Bluetooth support and two shortcut buttons that will make it easy for jumping over to the messaging features on the PlayStation 3.
While we don't currently have a price for the Wireless Keypad, it is set for release in late November. Expect our full review then as well.
