Audi's flagship A8 luxury sedan is the company's technological tour de force, and the company says its 2011 iteration will sport handwriting recognition among its many features.
The feature will be supported in the vehicle's Multi Media Interface, or MMI--effectively the navigation/media unit in the car's console. It allows the user to write the destination in freehand and then use the touch screen to manipulate the directions as necessary.

The XT5 Jaguar, located at Oak Ridge National Lab in Tennessee, recently received a refresh that included upgrading its quad-core CPUs to hex-core Opteron processors. That means a 2.3 petaflop per second theoretical performance peak ("nearly a quarter of a million cores"), and 1.75 petaflops measured by the Linpack benchmark.
Dell announced last Tuesday the launch of three new workgroup printers, including what it says is the world’s fastest single-function letter-size color laser printer.
The 5130cdn has a rated print speed of up to 47 single-side and 37.6 double-side LTR pages per minute, in both monochrome and color. ColorByDell tech supplies improved color saturation and image sharpness, the company says.

Gunnar Optiks announced on Monday its Legend eyeglasses, designed to reduce eye fatigue and intended for gamers and others who spend long periods of time in front of the computer.
The aviator-style glasses feature the company’s i-AMP lens technology, which intends to reduce eye fatigue. The i-AMP lenses are made of a proprietary polymer in a "neoscopic" geometry--tuned for short distance, basically--that are also tinted and coated with anti-reflective (glare), hydrophobic (water), oleophobic (oil) and hard (durability) coatings.
The shades are made with Major League Gaming approval (yes, such an organization exists), and from what I can tell, the wrap-around "temple" arms allow a bit more room for wearing headphones at the same time. Read more »
