Though Windows 7 claims to boot faster than its predecessor, that is still not fast enough for some. The
Lenovo Enhanced Experience uses extensive optimization on the system drivers, BIOS and third-party applications to decrease boot time, and now
Asus FastBoot to do the same.
However, the Taiwan company's optimizations are not as extensive as Lenovo's as the former only tuned the BIOS and provided an interface for the user to reduce the number of startup programs. Moreover, FastBoot works only in the 64-bit version of Windows 7, which leaves out Netbooks and budget systems. According to Asus, due to additional drivers and processors, 64-bit editions tend to boot slower than 32-bit machines. FastBoot will not only equalize the playing field, it actually makes the former start up quicker.
Asus FastBoot is available for all laptops with 64-bit Windows 7 installed. Those upgrading from Vista can also download the FastBoot application from Asus' support Web site.
