A typical issue for most tech administrators in offices is the hassle of having to install new drivers on individual computers when the firm purchases new machines. Samsung is looking to solve this problem by offering a universal protocol that works with not only the Korean chaebol's printers, but also machines by other manufacturers.
The Samsung Universal Print Driver was actually announced in May, but we got to know more about it
today at a printer launch.
According to Clifford Seow, manager of the Printer Business of Samsung's PC Peripherals Group, the Samsung Universal Print Driver works with almost all laser printers on the market, and users need install it only once. When more printers are added to the office network, the driver will still be able to communicate with the new boxes. This implementation is targeted more at businesses, though home users with more than one laser printer in the house can make use of the solution, too.
The driver is available as a free download
here. The user manual can be
found online, too.
