Motorola to launch at least 20 smartphones in 2010

Damian Koh  |  Oct 30, 2009

Is Motorola finally making a comeback?

According to gadget blog Gear Log, Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha said at the launch of the Verizon Motorola Droid that the company will release at least 20 smartphones next year. He initially mentioned vaguely about "multiple tens", but committed to a figure of at least 20 when pressed for clarification.

He didn't say what operating systems these smartphones would run on, although anyone can see that the company is directing most, if not all, of its attention to Android and custom solutions at the moment. Jha said a year ago that Motorola would focus on Android and Windows Mobile, but it's likely the company is waiting for Windows Mobile 7 instead of splitting its resources at this juncture between the two platforms. What do you think?
