If you have an HTC-branded smartphone, the words "HTC Innovation" are probably printed somewhere on the chassis. That has been its tagline for some time now, but recently, the company changed its slogan to "quietly brilliant" on its US Web site.
We just received an invitation from the mobile phone maker for a "rebranding of HTC party", so this new catchphrase should be making its way to Singapore, too. We'll probably find out the story behind the tagline then.
Our initial impression is that it sounds a little weird. It would be more relevant during HTC's early days as an OEM for other brands and operators, when no one even knew about the brand. Now that HTC is a household name, what's there to be quiet about? On the bright side, at least it isn't as strange as Asus' old slogan (which has since been changed): Rock Solid, Heart Touching.

Agree. Quietly Brilliant sounds weird. HTC Innovation is fine.
