Samsung steps up its 3D TV with a 240Hz engine

It's a relentless race to show off ever better 3D TVs now that many vendors have signaled their interest in this market. The latest is Samsung which has integrated a 240Hz screen refresh rate into its 3D LCD panel. That said, the 55-incher is still based on external shutter glasses technology which most of its rivals are offering at the moment. This display alternates left- and right eye-centric images to render the highly sought-after visual effects. The problem is we are skeptical over whether this is the right direction going forward, especially when glassless solutions have already been introduced for a while, such as this one at CommunicAsia 2008.
