By the end of this year, SingTel won't be the only telco operator to sell the iPhone in Singapore, ending its exclusive deal with Apple after the
launch of the iPhone 3G on August 21 in 2008.
In an M1 press statement released today, the company said it has "reached an agreement to bring the iPhone to customers in Singapore later this year", without disclosing further details.
The service provider will also offer "a range of tailored service plans" along with the launch of the touchscreen smartphone.
When contacted, an M1 spokesperson told CNET Asia that the company will bring in the latest available model and that it has 886,000 post-paid customers as of end June 2009. It declined to provide further information.
According to SingTel, it has sold "tens of thousands" of the iPhone 3GS since July 10.
CNET Asia asked StarHub if it would be bringing in the iPhone, to which its senior manager for Corporate Communications responded that "we are interested to bring the iPhone to StarHub customers". Whichever way you take that, it looks like StarHub mobile subscribers can only keep their fingers crossed for now.
