Sony has earlier expressed interest in developing a mirrorless, interchangeable lens system like the Micro Four Thirds standard, and Photo Rumors has what it seems to be an
early peek of the new camera's specifications.
The rumored shooter, the DSC-RX, is said to have a 14.2-megapixel APS-C-sized sensor and full-HD video recording at 30 frames per second. More incredibly, it appears to have 1GB of internal memory and expansion slots for Memory Stick Pro Duo and SD/SDHC cards. The lens mount will accept Sony R optics, which if true, will be a brand new line of glasses. This is different from the Alpha mount which is used by the company's current dSLRs.
So how true is this rumor? Given that Photo Rumors has been
receiving specification sheets of various Sony dSLRs over the past weeks, I have an inkling this one's a fake. However, it's a matter of time before the Japanese electronics giant comes out with a version of its own to pit against Olympus' and Panasonic's Micro Four Thirds and Samsung's NX systems.
