It's official. Mac users will be able to download the free
BlackBerry desktop manager for their computers from 0100 hours Saturday morning Singapore time (+8 GMT).
The software requires at least Mac OS 10.5.5 and supports BlackBerry smartphones running OS 4.2 and higher. This will let Mac users sync their contacts, appointments, tasks and iTunes music collections (via Media Sync) with their BlackBerry.
Aside from that, user will also be able to install/delete programs, schedule automatic backups, encrypt files as well as download firmware updates for their devices. As with all installations, please read and follow instructions carefully before proceeding.
The move comes as RIM tries to expand its corporate reach to gain a stronger foothold in a consumer market which is dominated by Apple's iPhone.
