Toshiba has just unveiled 25 Regza LCD TVs in Japan with panel sizes scaling from three petite 19-inchers to a 55-inch whopper. Among the new entries is the LED-backlit ZX9000 line which stands out with its promising capabilities, including a very high 2 million:1 dynamic contrast and a 240Hz scanning backlight function. Other standard features for this flagship series range from a built-in 500GB digital video recorder to DLNA network multimedia playback and a suite of HD-capable digital TV tuners.
The ZX9000 Regzas are also one of the few HDTVs to come with Dolby Volume, designed to automatically level out sound variations between TV commercials and broadcast programs. Another audio-centric enhancement is Audyssey EQ which provides loudness correction to maintain consistent sound tonality regardless of the TV's volume setting. The newly announced Toshiba Regzas are scheduled for launch in Japan from November, with no additional availability and pricing details for other Asia markets.
