Sharp prepares for 4K and 3D LCD displays

Philip Wong  |  Sep 21, 2009

The Japanese company has recently developed a new UV2A technology which can "significantly evolve LCD TVs to the next generation", according to its press release. Some of the key benefits of this new solution include negligible backlight leakage for deep inky blacks, as well as reduced HDTV power consumption via enhanced light transmission efficiency. Sharp has further added that UV2A can enhance the performance of ultra-high-definition 4K displays and future 3D TVs. This new technology will be integrated into the company's in-house LCD panels manufactured in Japan, though there's no product roadmap, launch details and pricing indicated in its announcement.
