Rich Trenholm   |  Sep 17, 2009

Packard Bell has refreshed its line-up of desktops, laptops and netbooks with the announcement of the all-in-one oneTwo M and L, the EasyNote DT85 gigantor laptop and dot m/u netbook.

Let's kick off with the EasyNote DT85. Its massive 18.4-inch widescreen display is contained in a chassis measuring 440 x 299 x 42mm, putting it in the league of laptops intended to replace your desktop. The 1080p, 16:9 screen is complemented by a Blu-ray player, Dolby sound and HDMI output.

A multitouch pad allows you to scroll, zoom and flick through files with two fingers. To the right of the keyboard is a glossy touch-sensitive multimedia strip, while on the left is a range of smart keys, including PowerSave to boost battery life, MyBackup, touchpad lock and Wi-Fi activation.

PB has followed up the Packard Bell dot m/a with the new dot m/u netbook. Quite what that name means we have no idea. It offers a similar 11.6-inch size with specs borrowed from the laptop end of the market. Options inlcude up to 500GB of storage and up to 4GB of RAM. The 16:9 screen offers high-definition video, with an HDMI port and 5-in-1 card reader included. Bluetooth and 3G are optional.

Packard Bell claims 8 hours of battery life for the six-cell battery in the justified ancient of m/u. It comes in black and cherry red and is less than 25mm thick, costing around £400 (US$661.34).

PB has also announced two all-in-one desktops. The 20-inch oneTwo M and 23-inch oneTwo L boast multi-touch touchscreen displays. The M offers 1,600 x 900-pixel resolution and the L gives full HD with 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and 5.1-channel surround sound. The L packs an Intel Core2 Quad processor with an ATI Radeon Mobility 4670 graphics chip and 1GB of dedicated video memory. Blu-ray and a TV tuner are optional.

The OneTwo M will start from £600 (US$992.01), and the L from £900 (US$1,488.02). All the new models will drop alongside Windows 7 on 22 October in the UK, with Asia availability to be confirmed.
