Remember the LED-edgelit ZX1-series Bravia which came with wireless A/V connectivity, but supported up to only 1080i video? Sony has now released an updated model under the ZX5 line to address this shortfall. Not only do these new entries support 1080p signals wirelessly, they also offer 240Hz refresh rate via the company's Motion Flow frame interpolation function. Other niceties range from four HDMI inputs to Web content streaming and DLNA-compatibility via an Ethernet port.
On the aesthetics front, the 46- and 52-inch ZX5 feature an ultraslim 15.8mm and 16.6mm bezel, respectively. These are way thinner than the 29.9mm Samsung and 29mm LG offerings, although you will have to deal with not one, but two boxes (display panel and wireless media receiver) for these Bravias. There are no indications of pricing and availability outside of Japan at the moment.
