Dell launched its new Studio XPS 8000 and Studio XPS 9000 desktop computers, intended for users requiring a decent amount of power under the hood for multimedia or gaming.

That horsepower can come in the form of Intel’s new Lynnfield Core i5 and i7 Quad Core processors.

The Studio XPS 8000 (top left) starts at US$800, and nets you a 500GB hard drive, 4GB of DDR3-1066 memory, and Intel’s new Core i5-750 (2.66GHz) processor. Intel’s Core i7-860 (2.8GHz) and Core i7-870 (2.93GHz) CPUs can be had for an extra US$170 or US$380, respectively. Memory capacity peaks at 16GB, and 2TB of storage (RAID 0) is an option.

The Studio XPS 9000 (top right) is said to offer "new performance graphics options", and is expected to replace the Studio XPS 435. It’s not yet available on Dell’s site in the US or Asia, but is expected to start at US$900 and offer higher-end components.

Blu-ray is an option for both desktop PCs.
