Onkyo releases more A/V receiver heavyweights

Weighting up to 25kg each, the newly launched Onkyo A/V receivers are a sight to behold in their solid brushed-metal bezels and industrial design. In the midrange category, there's the 7.2-channel TX-SR707 featuring up-to-date Audyssey DSX and Dolby Pro Logic IIz technologies. These new surround sound functions are designed to create a more immersive sound stage by introducing additional front and/or height speakers to complement a standard 5.1 speaker setup.

On the other end of the scale, the Japanese company has lined up its NR-series receivers with networking capability. This enables the TX-NR807, TX-NR1007, TX-NR3007 and TX-NR5007 to playback music from DLNA-compatible devices, as well as access hundreds of Internet radio stations. The latter three models offer extended 9.2-channel speaker support, while its flagship TX-NR5007 is assembled using high-quality components such as a massive torodial transformer.

Lastly, there're the PR-SC5507 A/V processor and DV-BD507 Blu-ray player. The former comes with a whopping eight HDMI 1.3 inputs and a high-performance HQV video processor, though you'll need to pair it with a power amplifier to drive the boomboxes. On the other hand, the DV-BD507 is compatible with all the latest Blu-ray technologies, from BD-Live Web content download to full high-resolution surround sound. Furthermore, it'll playback DivX HD files.

These new Onkyo products are now in Singapore, with other Asia cities pending.
